Miscellaneous Monday Observations

This weekend I caught part of the movie "Carmen Jones" on TV. Now I must rent it and watch it from beginning to end. It was in color, but I think I want to see the original black and white. I didn't realize that it was an adaptation ofthe Opera "Carmen." What was my thought about this you ask? Well, there was a scene where Carmen (Dorothy Dandridge) was running from Joe (Harry Belafonte) and she was doing it in heals & a skirt. Running quite well I might add, and I just thought about how un-formal I dress in comparison to how they dressed in the '50's. I love the look of the era, but I am glad I don't have to run in heals. :-)

Another unbelieveable moment in Atlanta Traffic. We have these signs that warn about traffic. Usually, it seems that I don't pass the sign before I run into the problem. But the other day, I actually saw a sign warning me about the problem early enough so that I could choose a different route. Woo hoo! An amazing acomplishment in my travels around the ATL.

On the other hand a truly annoying moment in the car. Don't you hate it when people drive the wrong way down an aisle in a parking lot. Especially when there is a sign that says do not enter. As I sit in my car unable to exit, because the idiot in the "supersized" SUV has turned into the aisle that I am trying to exit. As I drove slowly by the idiot and glanced at him, I read his sleeve and it said "Police"...I thought they had to pass reading tests for that job. :-)

Hmm, pretty empty head if I only had 3 thoughts for the entire day. LOL Well, it's all I care to type about for now. ;-)

Have a happy Monday!

Silly woman, the police are above the rules and courtesies of people like us.

I hate when people do that too. I especially hate it when they're going in the wrong direction and stay in the middle of the aisle. Just makes me want to black out and machine gun their car until the clip is empty.

You two have covered what I was gonna say, but I'll add that one thing I don't miss about ATL is the doggone traffic.

I often say that I'm glad I learned how to drive THERE, and instead of here, but dayum, it was intimidating. Catch the "right" part of rush-hour, on the "right" road, and you'll think you're on the damned AutoBahn.

Awful signage, too (though that seemed to be better in some places, last I visited). Finding the Georgia Aquarium was a pain.

Carmen was a great movie. Rent the whole thing soon, hopefully you'll love it too!

And though I do not live in ATL, my in-laws are there, so I am there enough to know that the traffic is HORRENDOUS!! I feel for you! Keep looking at those signs! LOL

@ Freaky I know police are above the law, but I thought that when they were in their personal vehicles they would at least pretend to be normal.

@ West Are you originally from the ATL? I applaud you for learning to drive in Atlanta, I learned in small town Texas...Ha-ha I actually remember my dad taking the wheel on a farm road when some cows were loose, a far cry from now. But even in Atlanta I live not too far from a horse farm or 2. LOL

@ Robyn I think I will be watching it this weekend, I hope I can. That is a classic, so I may need to buy it. But I know that I will enjoy it. Well, I hope the traffic isn't too overwhelming. And thanks for stopping by.

Police, normal? LOL, that's funny. What's the first thing coming out of their mouths when anything happens and their off-duty? I'm a police officer. They're technically on duty 24 hours so even when they're in their personal vehicles they're assholes.

I've heard Atlanta has some of the worst traffic in the country. You have my sympathy.

Oh! I'm terribly guilty of doing that today, in an airport parking lot. The signs were confusing, and I was in a hurry. No excuse had I run into someone, head on.

we have those signs in baltimore.. they seem to only be accurate when the orioles or ravens have a game

and cops think they are above the law... that's probably why he did it!

@ Freaky - I have your sympathy? Ohh Freaky. Will you let me cry on your shoulder after a stressful day in traffic?

@ buck - Oh, I think airport parking lots/garages are made to keep people confused. Maybe it's just the ones I drive to, but I understand your predicament.

@ TTD So Baltimore makes sure everything is accurate for the sports fans, huh? I'm thinking CON-spiracy. LOL

Yes, you have my sympathy. I despise bad traffic. I could say something naughty but I'm going to be good.

If crying on my shoulder makes you feel better than do what you need to do. Just don't blow your nose on shirt and we're straight.

Ahh, see I was hoping for naughty Freaky. Blowing my nose was not my concern ;-)

Oh you're bad but I like bad. ;o) Maybe I'll say something naughty next time you leave an opening. Maybe.
